When we started in 1985 with the development of a biomechanical measuring system for road cycling, we could never imagine how much road cycling and technology would be intertwined with one another. As an amateur cyclist and later as trainer, I – Raymond Vanstraelen – was always looking for the newest technologies, usually used first in other sports to then be applied to cycling.
Sportswear has become more than just a t-shirt, shorts and tracksuit. The evolution continues: functional fabrics are used to physically and mentally support professional athletes as well as hobby athletes in their sport.
As a hobby that somewhat got out of hand, Bioracer was founded on December 31, 1985. It embodies a holistic view and always strives for innovation concerning everything that has something to do with cycle racing.
We innovate, design, manufacture, promote and sell speedwear to cyclists, triathletes, runners and ice skaters, striving to maximize their performance. Winning is a state of mind. With every inch of your gear prepared, your only focus is you.
We at HIGH5 are committed to creating nutritious products with amazing natural flavours and we’re passionate about helping you achieve your goals – however big or small. At Muc-Off, we’re really into being active. Whether it’s on a mountain, trail or at the skate park, we just love to be outside and going big. We’re obsessed with making the most innovative care and performance products around, so you and your toys can keep running smoothly and looking box fresh.
So what’s the story? It all started way back when Right Said Fred were too sexy for their shirts and Downhill wasn’t even part of the World Cup. Yep, way back in 1991 Rex and Marilyn Trimnell got things started with X-Lite UK.
After designing and manufacturing the world’s first twin crown bicycle fork, Rex created a perfectly pink spray to clean his kit. Long story short, Rex’s cleaner was the best thing since sliced bread, and it wasn’t long before word got out and Muc-Off was born.
Fast-forward to today and Muc-Off is now the go-to brand for top riders and racers, from EF Pro Cycling to Scott Redding, we’ve got a stack of incredible athletes and teams using our products to keep them at the top of their game. And, in case you haven’t noticed, we do a bit more than our original pink cleaner these days. We have an amazing range of lubricants, sprays, apparel and even antibacterial products – you name it, we’ve got it!

Yellow Jersey was started by three brothers, Ryan, Grant and Scott — we have been successfully running our family-owned insurance brokers for over 15 years. As active members of the cycling and triathlon community we were frequently asked what the best way to insure bicycles was. We knew that cycle cover on home insurance wasn’t always sufficient, but we were never confident recommending any of the existing cycling-specific policies to friends who owned multiple bikes, trained and raced TTs, criteriums and triathlons, or who were looking to take their bikes abroad. We thought things could be better, so in 2014 we started Yellow Jersey.
Everyone at Yellow Jersey has a passion for two wheels. Whether it’s road, mountain bike, triathlon or commuting, this passion transfers into our day-to-day work. We know what cyclists need as we too have those needs. The first question we ask is ‘would we use it?’, the second is ‘is it good value?’
We know that cyclists want to be on the bike as much as possible and dealing with insurance is probably the last thing on their mind. It’s our vision give you more time to ride. We do this by making insurance as easy and stress-free as we can.
Dark Art Distillery is a premium new gin distillery based in the beautiful town of Kirkcudbright. We welcome visitors for gin tastings and tours to learn more about the history of gin and to see our lovely still ‘Peggy’ (named after the founder’s grandmother who lived in Kirkcudbright) and hear more about the history of the Distillery as well as the stardust magic that goes into our fantastic gin.
We are Scotland’s most southerly distillery and our first gin, Sky Garden Gin, is a luxurious gin that takes its inspiration from the Galloway Forest Park – once the sunsets, the magic of night time appears with an inky-blue sky garden shimmering with sparking stars and rivers of light. In essence a stunning sky garden.
The Distillery itself takes its name from both Kirkcudbright and the Galloway Forest Park. Kirkcudbright is known as the Artists’ Town – the ART. The Galloway Forest Park was, in 2009, the UK’s first dark sky accredited park – the DARK. Taking inspiration from these two sources, the Dark Art Distillery was born.
Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere has been recognised internationally as a world class environment for people and nature. The UNESCO Biosphere designation is recognition of the fantastic array of landscapes, wildlife, cultural heritage and learning opportunities that SW Scotland offers for communities, businesses and visitors to experience and celebrate in a sustainable way. A Biosphere is a place of cooperation and collaboration that shows that a sustainable way of living is not only possible but already happening!
The Big Plastic pledge has been founded by Hannah Mills, an Olympic gold and silver medallist, a sailor and an IOC sustainability ambassador. “During the 2016 Olympics, I witnessed first hand the devastating effects of plastic pollution on our oceans and planet. Every beach, marina and coastal area we visited during that 4 year period was affected and damaged beyond belief. So much of it was single-use plastic. It was something I couldn’t ignore anymore, I had to act. And so, over the past few years, I have set about, along with my teammate Eilidh Mcintyre, trying to reduce the single-use plastic from our Olympic campaign.” With 1 person changing their habits, individually signalling to brands and policymakers our voice, the ripple effect can be huge. The actions you take matter and without you and the next person and the next, we are nothing. If a whole sporting community change their habits and shouts loudly, then we are flying! We can create a tidal wave of change that will be felt on every corner of the globe. This is the foundation for the Big Plastic Pledge.
We were drawn to Galloway by landscape, freedom and the welcome of people not too busy for a chat. We cycled around the world for 4 years and returned more adrift than when we had left. Rides here can remind you of the Highlands, Cornwall and bits in between but the culture is unique. It has been so much fun creating an event to show off bits of Galloway Forest, the largest forest park in the UK. We run Galloway Cycling Holidays, specialists in the best place to ride a bike on road or gravel. Welcome to our playground.
Nestled between the rugged coastline and dramatic heather-clad hills, the Selkirk Arms is a fantastic base from which to explore Scotland’s beautiful south-west coast.
Dating back to 1777, this traditional townhouse hotel is set on Kirkcudbright’s High Street, close to the town’s vibrant working harbour.
The Selkirk Arms’ sixteen luxurious individually styled bedrooms complement the historic character and charm of the property, contributing to its reputation for outstanding hospitality and as a place to relax and unwind.
With menus that champion fresh and locally sourced ingredients, diners can choose from the relaxed and informal atmosphere of The Bistro or the more formal experience of the Artistas Restaurant.
Cally Palace, on the outskirts of the pretty village of Gatehouse of Fleet on the Solway coast, is set in over 150 acres of grounds. It was originally an 18th century country mansion just outside Gatehouse of Fleet but is now a wonderful hotel in south west Scotland.
Entering through the oak doors, the grandeur of the interior is immediately apparent as step back to a time of period style and elegance while enjoying all the modern comforts of a four star hotel. Two huge marble pillars frame the entrance hall which leads to the Bow Lounge with its magnificent gilt cuppola ceiling.
The hotels’ 56 bedrooms combine spacious accommodation with views of the estate grounds and the Dumfries & Galloway countryside beyond.
Cally Palace has its own exclusive golf course, as well as an indoor leisure complex with swimming pool, to allow you to make your stay with us as active or as relaxed as you choose.
The warmth of the Scottish welcome you receive will impress as much as the opulence of the surroundings.
